Lubhang madilim ang karimlan ng gabing iyon. Wala ni isang bituin sa kalangitan. At maging sa loob ng kabahayan ay nakalatag ang ganap na karimlan. Nakahiga na si Simo sa isang sulok ng sala. Naka-inom siya, pero parang hindi gaanong tumalab ang whiskey na pinagsaluhan nila ni Alfred. At sa dilim ng gabi, pakiwari ni Simo ay kaya nyang matulog nang hindi ipinipikit ang kanyang mga mata, Ang karimlan ang magiging talukap ng kanyang mga mata.

 

At alam nya, magiging mailap sa kanya ang tulog sa gabing ito. Matindi ang pananabik ...
